Project Brief:
The Pollution Prevention (P2) Awareness Training is an annual refresher and onboarding course designed for employees of a manufacturing company. The training aims to instill the importance of reducing waste, conserving resources, and minimizing environmental impacts in daily operations. It covers key P2 practices, compliance with environmental regulations, and the critical role each employee plays in supporting the company’s sustainability initiatives.
As a learning designer, I:
Conducted a Needs Analysis: Assessed the varying levels of employee experience and knowledge regarding pollution prevention practices to ensure the training was relevant and tailored to different roles within the manufacturing process.
Simplified Complex Content: Translated complex environmental regulations and technical Pollution Prevention (P2) practices into clear, easy-to-understand materials, making the content accessible for all employees.
Emphasized the Importance of P2: Focused on connecting the training to the "why" of pollution prevention, highlighting both environmental and business impacts to foster a deeper understanding of each employee’s role in the company’s sustainability efforts.
Applied Cognitive Load Theory: Implemented strategies to reduce cognitive overload by breaking down information into manageable segments and using role-specific examples to enhance retention and application.
